More information about Brexit and the rights of residence under the withdrawal agreement.

You must fill in a separate application form for each applicant.

Applying for right of residence abroad

In certain situations, you can also apply for a right of residence under the withdrawal agreement from abroad. Submit your application at a Finnish mission (embassy or consulate). More information about circumstances under which you can apply for your right of residence from abroad can be found on the pages Ohjeita hakemiseen.

Apply for a residence permit if you are coming to Finland after 31 December 2020

Remember: If you arrive in Finland for the first time after 31 December 2020, you cannot apply for a right of residence under the withdrawal agreement. You must apply for a residence permit in the same manner as other persons coming from non-EU countries. However, those family members of a British citizen whose family ties to the British citizen have been established before the ending of the transitional period have the right to come to Finland later and still be covered by the withdrawal agreement.

If you are not sure which grounds for applying you should choose, use the Application Finder on the Finnish Immigration Service website to find out.
