If you are applying for an extended permit or citizenship or renewing your residence permit card or residence card, it is possible that you do not need to visit a service point to prove your identity. For more information about when visiting a service point is not necessary, see the page Identification (migri.fi)

Registration of an EU citizen's right of residence in Finland

Use this application form to apply for EU registration if you are an EU citizen or a citizen of Liechtenstein or Switzerland and wish to stay in Finland for over 3 months.

Your right of residence in Finland can be registered once you meet the requirements for EU registration.

As an EU citizen or a citizen of Liechtenstein or Switzerland, you have an unrestricted right to work in Finland already when you are waiting for a decision on your EU registration application.

If you apply for EU registration on the basis of studies or work, we may issue an automated decision on your application. Read more about automated decisions on the page Automated decisions. The decision will follow the processing rules that are in force at the time when the decision is made.

If you are a family member of an EU citizen, apply for a residence card of a family member of an EU citizen.
